Raiders is currently being downloaded to our new server Superman. Raiders has also been a long time member of our server family, and its time to retire to a more robust server.  The download process is happening now.. and should be done in the next couple hours.

P51, a long time member of our server family, has retired and gave its customers to the king, Elvis.  This is the last server move to Elvis.  Elvis shall stay the king forever!  This should be done towards the end of the day.  Elvis will not leave the building ;)

Some of our customers have noticed with the moves to the new servers that there are some differences in minor things. For example, one customer had an index.cgi file that no longer executed.

Fortunately, there is an easy fix. You'll need to create a file called .htaccess that has the following text:

AddHandler cgi-script .cgi

Save it and upload it via FTP to the httpdocs directory of your account. Unless you have your FTP software configured to show hidden files, it will disappear when you upload it. That is completely normal.

Our support staff would be glad to help you if you need to get this or any other feature that you need working. Just contact support@amhosting.com for assistance.

After hours of researching and trouble shooting with our providers, Verizon posts up on their network status page that they are having problems like crazy.

http://wapp.verizon.net/systemstatus/status.asp?status_type=DSL

We are happy to know its not us, but sad that this is happening because customers cant get to our networks.

They must be working on it because everything just went online as I was typing this blog post.

We have been researching an issue where customers are having a hard time getting to AMHosting.com and their websites.   Our network admins have researched this, and talked to our providers to determine that its not an issue of AMHosting, but a major backbone issue from an Los Angeles Router to a router in Albyny New York. This is a major pipe that is experiencing some major network problems outside the control of AMHosting.  Our providers are working on a fix, which might include selecting a different path for routing to not use the Los Angeles peering point.

On the screen shot above, you can see that there is no packet loss from our upstream providers, or their upstream provider.  The packet loss happens at 130.91.19.110.

If you are having this problem, you really cant even read this blog post until Verizon fixes this issue on their network.. We will post up a voice notice on our phone system.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Web2 is currently being backed up for migration into Batman.  This should be done towards the end of the day.

By Support on 2/26/2008 10:39 AM

Kyle is almost done with the migration.  The process is happening so fast that I didn't even get a chance to put up a notice about it until its already being deployed.  This should be done in the next hour or so.

We are in the process of moving Viper into Spiderman.   Viper, an ancient Pentium III that has been in production for many years, has run its pace.   The Spiderman server is going to house this server.  This process should be completed by the end of the day.

We are currently in the process of moving Jupiter to the new server Spiderman.  The process should be seamless and little to no downtime is expected.  IP's are not changing so DNS does not have to propagate at all.  Please let us know if you experience any issues.  Thanks.

We are currently moving Mars (a long awaited migration)  to one of our brand new servers in our production line.   The migration is almost complete.  Little to no downtime is expected, and no IP changes should occur.
